Adopt-a-Highway clean-up
-
On the 5th of May 2011, the NY Department of Transportation erected Adopt-a-Highway signs along Route 9 acknowledging the Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot (see left-hand column).
The Adopt-a-Highway program requires sponsors to clean along the roadside 4 times a year. Since then, FOFSD volunteers have honored their request by keeping our stretch of Route 9 (1.4 miles) clean and beautiful for all to enjoy. Contact us at info@fishkillsupplydepot.org and join the effort to keep the depot clean.
Memorial Day Observance Ceremony
-
May 27, 2013 - Our 1st annual Memorial Day Observance Ceremony was a huge success as visitors from as far away as Florida, Ohio and Arizona came to honor the soldiers buried at Fishkill. Over 70 people met at the Van Wyck Homestead and made their way to the burial ground where FOFSD President Lance Ashworth delivered a stirring speech about the Fishkill Supply Depot. NY State Senator Terry Gipson, Town of Fishkill Supervisor Bob LaColla and Dutchess County Legislator Alison MacAvery also spoke at the event. Special thanks to the 5th NY and the 6th Connecticut regiments for making the trip to Fishkill on this most sacred of days.
Revolutionary War Weekend
-
On September 18/19, 2010, the Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot (FOFSD) and our co-sponsor, the Fishkill Historical Society hosted the Revolutionary War Weekend (RWW), an outreach event educating citizens on the vital role Fishkill played during the Revolutionary War and the significance of the soldiers burial ground. The first event was such a success that the RWW has become an annual celebration of the legacy of the Fishkill Supply Depot. Featuring Revolutionary War reenactors, artisian demonstrations, period music and recreations of famous moments during the war, the Revolutionary War Weekend has grown in popularity every year of its existence.

Wreaths Across America
Saturday, December 10, 2011, FOFSD members and supporters gathered at the soldiers' burial ground to lay a wreath in tribute to the men buried there. Since then, our participation in the annual Wreaths Across America event has grown into one of our most important dates of the year.
